It's a .....Boy!! What?!?

So, I just thought I would put up an update for those of you who don't get the family emails. On May 22, at 10:17 pm Riley Dean Groves made his entrance into the world. When the doctor told us we had a little boy I had to look and make sure. Our doctor is known to be a jokester so I really had to check. It was a wonderful surprise though. Too bad we've been calling him Lily all this time!

The hairy part came when we found out that he wasn't really breathing properly. He was breathing so fast and shallow that he was practically panting and we found out that he had an air pocket in between his lung and his chest cavity. They decided to send him to another hospital where he could receive better care and after finding out that Carle was full of babies, they shipped him up here to Springfield.

Problem number two came when we found out that his culture for Group B Strep had come out positive. This is a really nasty bacteria for babies to get because it can cause a lot of major problems. Luckily Riley had been started on antibiotics right away and they were the same ones that would be used to treat the Group B Strep. They've also done a spinal tap now to see if the bacteria had traveled into his spinal fluid causing meningitis. Thank goodness it came back negative. So, Mr. Riley just has to be on the antibiotics for 10 days total to ensure that the Strep B is gone. That puts us here until Friday and then we should be able to take our baby boy home.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. We really appreciate it and we know that God has had His Hand in this from the start. Everything has definitely worked out and we've learned so much through this experience! God has orchestrated a lot on our behalf and we're praising Him for it! Thank you again and we all send our love!

So Close...

We're almost there!! I don't know how well you can see this, but you're looking at a sonogram picture of baby girl waving. We noticed right off that she has pretty long fingers. Surely she'll be the next Beethoven. It's hard to believe that this sonogram was done so long ago! Miss Lily has definitely gotten a lot bigger since then. Over 20 weeks have passed! We're only 4 days from the due date now and counting down. My mom thinks I'll have her tomorrow. I hope she's right but something tells me that baby girl is cozy and might not want to come out that soon.
Yesterday we got a package in the mail. Aunt Kathy Groves sent us a beautiful little afghan!! Thank you so much! It's so cute and I'm sure it will get used a lot!
At the Beals reunion (that was actually quite awhile back now) we were talking about how family gatherings at the Groves's would never be the same. We already have baby Adaley, soon we'll have Lily and Tyler..and as Steve pointed out, Malia will be there to boss all the little ones around!! Ha! I can't wait! It will be so much fun!
Well, I think my "nesting" instincts are kicking in and I need to do some cleaning. Hopefully my next post will include pictures of a newborn!
